Leaves Lovin

I wrote a love poem about leaves for autumn.
Hearts fall open
Onto a grassy field
Jade in hue
Soft in feel
Green pastures
Surround our soft spots
And say
“Y’all safe here”
Puddles of still water
Protect our process
We obsess
We rest
In each other’s eyes
They remind me of soil
Your touch
Exposes our toil
This garden
Is not my mother’s
Or hers
It’s
OURS
Every hour
It’s fall but
I love this Valentine
Exchanging green hearts
With you
Instead of red
You know I can’t
Leave you on read
Or for dead
Like other leaves
Patterning a path
Our aftermath?
Still love
