Praylisting

I've turned Spotify into one of my favorite holy spaces. I first realized my playlists could be a spiritual salve in a rough period of my life. I didn't have the words to pray out loud in that season, but I had a desire to cry out to the LORD in a new way--to sing a new song.

Merriam-Webster defines prayer as

(1) an address (such as a petition) to God in word or thought

As long as we're intentionally and reverentially communing with God, prayer can take a variety of forms. From silently meditating on a scripture or "Rhema word" we've received. To prophetically painting a message between us and the heavens. If we can prayerfully petition God via "word or thought" in various ways such as song and dance like Miriam and David. Why wouldn't playlists count as prayers? Let the lyrics be your intercession and the melodies fill your secret place.

So I first created MORNING GLORY when I realized my life became out of a balance after I started skipping prayer, praise, and worship first thing in the morning.

This ~warm.morning.worship.mix~ helps me command my morning with calm instrumentals (great for prayer) and feel good Gospel, contemporary, hip-hop, and r&b-inspired praise music. Worship Who woke you up and align with who you are to start your day off right.

"Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress." --Isaiah 33:2

"GOD IS LOVE" was birthed on the morning of Resurrection Sunday. As I looked for a special way to celebrate Jesus overcoming the grave during a global health crisis for the second time. I figured a playlist that I could revisit long after that particular Sunday would suffice.

A shorty but goodie, these tracks are unique and anointed; ecclesial and eclectic; old and new. Because just like God, love is eternal.

God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. --1 John 4:16

The final playlist I'll share is "WE NEED YAH." YAH as in YHWH. Stream these tunes when you need to repent, pour out an alabaster box of praise, or touch the hem of the LORD's garment. This is the perfect playlist for crying out to ABBA.

I filled this playlist with "on your face music" as the saints call it. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Expect ballads about how much we need YAH.
